Stafford Springs, CT – On May 18th the Valenti Modified Racing Series rolled into the historic Stafford Motor Speedway for their 4th race of the season. For the Sontag Motorsports, this marked their first time ever competing at the half mile facility. Cameron didn’t take long to become acclimated to the track, but would place 25th out of 29 cars during the only practice session of the day. Cam would line up 8th in the first qualifying heat of the night, with a very loose car the #13 would finish 10th in the heat and would have to make his way to the consolation race. With a couple of changes to the car, Sontag would start the Consi 8th and battle his way to a 2nd place finish and start the feature 20th. The race was about survival and logging laps. During the race Sontag would make his way up to 11th before a couple of cautions and a loose race car would set it. Holding on for the last 20 laps in the 80 lap feature event, Cameron would bring home the #13 modified in 15th position. With the car in once piece, and gaining positions during the night, it made the first trip to Stafford Motor Speedway a successful night. Join us for our next VMRS race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 24th in Loudon, New Hampshire!
