Valenti Modified Racing Series Starts Off August At Beech Ridge Saturday
Canaan, NH. — After a three-week break in the schedule, the Valenti Modified Racing Series kicks off the month of August with an appearance at the famed Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, Saturday night, August 4.
The Beech Ridge event is the first of four races in August. Stops at New London- Waterford Speedbowl, Monadnock Speedway, and Stafford Springs Motor Speedway, will follow.
Saturday’s race will feature a 75-lap main event for the open -wheel ground pounding Modifieds.
Reigning champion Anthony Nocella, of Woburn, MA, takes a 44-point lead to Beech Ridge as he looks to win his third consecutive race there. Last year Nocella outraced fog and a hard charging Troy Talman to nail down the win. Nocella recently won at Lee for his second series win of the year.
Currently Mike Willis Jr, Grantham, NH, and Sammy Rameau have a 4- point gap separating them entering the Beech Ridge show. Rameau, the 17-year old driver from Westminster, MA, won his first VMRS race at Lee three weeks ago. Willis has 280 points – to Rameau’s 276.
Rookies Cameron Sontag of Sterling, MA, currently seventh in points (198) and Jacob Perry of Pawcatuck, CT, currently ninth (183), are chasing Rookie of the Year honors.
To date, five different drivers in eight races have visited victory lane.
Westbrook, Maine racer Tony Ricci is also an expected entry.
